Sometimes the yarmulkes come out flat like a saucer, sometimes pointed, and sometimes perfect. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, frogs, Harry Potter and others. All of a sudden people are asking me to make more. Texas Stitcher - I am going to make about 20 more yarmulkes. I know that I could go to a store and look but I wanted information from a reliable source like the people on this board. I had never heard of serrated scissors prior to today. Do you have patterns? I might try it - one day! PS Nothing wrong with cross stitching a few, it's the sewing part that wouldn't appeal to me. Whenever my mother didn't feel like making something she would maintain that it is kinder to purchase the item(s) so we don't take jobs away from people. Good luck finding the right pair, you'll need them if you have to cut 100 pieces. I am not a sewer - no patience - too many steps to follow. I have the correct scissors for most jobs but will cut flower stems with my sewing scissors, etc. I abuse most of my things because I am lazy.
If you only use them for the intended purpose, they will remain sharp for a very long time. My personal favorites are Fiskar's (sp) brand scissors.
I have several, some make design like looking edges - more of a craft thing and then I have the ones that leave a zigzag edge. Nancye, how many yarmulkes do you plan on making? I have never heard of serrated scissors but that certainly does not mean that they don't exist.
